In order to further explore and identify key issues in the direction of low-carbon and clean development of China's power industry, and expand research ideas on clean and low-carbon development of the power industry. The China Energy Modeling Forum (CEMF) held a power problem identification meeting on the afternoon of November 23, 2017, focusing on the policy objectives in the field of low-carbon environmental protection in the 13th Five-Year Plan, the policy background of power system reform and the power industry's participation in carbon trading, and under the support of new technological development, the trend of the power industry's transition to clean and low-carbon, and jointly discuss the issues that the power industry should pay attention to in the next 5 years.
In the past 20 years, the power industry has made remarkable achievements in pollution reduction. It has made a huge contribution to the emission reduction of traditional pollutants such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. Since 2014, the coal power industry has taken the lead in promoting ultra-low emission transformation. In 2015, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the Energy Bureau issued the "Comprehensive Implementation of Ultra-low Emission and Energy Conservation Transformation Work Plan for Coal-fired Power Plants", proposing to complete ultra-low emission transformation by 2020. As of the end of June this year, a total of 570 million kilowatts has been completed, accounting for 60% of the coal-fired motor assembly capacity. The discharge of traditional pollutants is no longer an obstacle to the development of the power industry. With the economic and social development and the continuous improvement of the demand for low-carbon clean energy, how to achieve low-carbon development in the power industry will become a key factor affecting the development of the power industry. Carbon emission reduction is not only related to the sustainable development of the industry, but also determines the situation of carbon emission reduction in the energy field. To this end, the China Energy Modeling Forum (CEMF) intends to invite domestic experts in the field of electric power to exchange and share the latest research progress and results in this field and the application of model method tools, in order to identify the low-carbon and clean development direction of China's electric power industry key issues in the field, and can use model tools for quantitative analysis.
