Background
The Covid-19 pandemic and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine have had a profound impact on the global macro economy in the medium and long term, and the issue of energy security has also been raised to a new height by countries around the world. On March 22, Vice Premier Han Zheng emphasized at the symposium on the clean and efficient use of coal that "we must deeply understand the extreme importance of ensuring national energy security under the new situation, insist on promoting clean and efficient use of coal based on the actual situation of the country, and give full play to the potential of coal." The role of backstop guarantees to ensure the security and supply of national energy and electricity. It is necessary to deeply understand that promoting the clean and efficient utilization of coal is an important way to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality at the peak of carbon, and make overall plans for the big article of clean and efficient utilization of coal, and promote energy in a scientific and orderly manner. Green and low-carbon transformation, providing a solid energy guarantee for the realization of high-quality development''. Under the new situation, China's coal-based energy structure should be selected in the path selection of low-carbon green transformation, high-quality economic development, and fair and just transformation of society , the development of renewable energy, the realization of dual carbon targets, and the contribution to the global response to climate change require new exploration and thinking. To this end, the China Energy Modeling Forum (CEMF) will be held on April 8, 2022 (Friday ) organized and held the 29th CEMF Technical Seminar in Beijing with the theme of "Challenges and Opportunities for China to Achieve Dual Carbon Goals by Clean and Efficient Utilization of Coal".
Meeting Venue
From the Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, China Coal Construction Association, China Coal Science and Technology Research Institute, China Coal Industry Magazine, Coal Information Research Institute of the Ministry of Emergency Management, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing), China University of Mining and Technology (Xuzhou) and Tsinghua University Experts and scholars from universities and other institutions focused on the concept, positioning, realization path, emission reduction potential, synergistic benefits and their impact on the development of the coal industry itself, low-carbon green transformation of other traditional energy industries, The impact of the development of renewable energy such as wind power and photovoltaics, the development of emission reduction technologies such as CCS, the short-term challenges and medium- and long-term impacts of the country's energy transition during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, and the challenges and opportunities it brings to China's realization of the double carbon goal In-depth exchanges and discussions were conducted on the pressure China is under in international climate negotiations and the solution.
Experts and scholars focused on how to achieve green energy transformation and the realization of dual carbon goals in the most economical and feasible way under the new situation of the COVID-19 pandemic, Sino-US relations, and Russia-Ukraine conflicts. . At the same time, the technologies and approaches needed to realize the clean and efficient utilization of coal at the coal production end and the utilization end were respectively sorted out, and the emission reduction potential brought by the emission reduction technology in the transformation of clean and efficient coal utilization and the impact on the development of renewable energy were discussed. Impact. In addition, experts in the coal industry conducted in-depth discussions on the contribution that can be made to achieve my country's dual carbon goals through clean and efficient coal utilization and the challenges we are currently facing. In the short term, the efficient and clean utilization of coal will not promote a further increase in coal consumption. In the long run, the withdrawal of coal is an inevitable trend of energy green and low-carbon transformation and response to climate change, and is also the main content of China's high-quality economic development; efficient and clean coal Utilization must be guided by the realization of dual-carbon goals, while taking into account other goals such as ecological environment, water resources, land, and methane emission reduction, so as to find a green, low-carbon and sustainable realization path.
The seminar hopes to focus on the research theme of the China Modeling Forum (CEMF), and truly reflect the changes in the country's positioning of coal and other energy types in the transformation of the energy system in the path and technical points of the energy model and its short-, medium- and long-term scenario settings It is assumed that the timeliness and authenticity of energy model research should be further improved to better serve the research purpose of CEMF03's "2035 Low-Carbon Development and Beautiful China Goal".
