Objectives
- Promote communication among domestic and international energy modeling teams
- Facilitate the application of models
- Enhance the decision-making capabilities in energy, environment, and economy
Background and Vision
Quantitative models have increasingly become important tools and methods in the decision-making process. Quantitative research and the quantification assessment of policy options contribute to improving rational decision-making and avoiding decision-making errors.
The China Energy Model Forum (CEMF) was established in 2015 by the School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM) at Tsinghua University, the Center for Industrial Development and Environmental Governance (CIDEG) at Tsinghua University, and the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF). The forum aims to convene advanced model teams in the fields of energy, economics, and the environment, to jointly explore the latest developments and future trends in modeling methodologies, to propel collaboration, interaction, and communication among domestic and international model teams, and to enhance the capabilities of model development and application. The forum aims to improve the relevance, timeliness, feasibility, and influence of research findings and policy recommendations and strengthen the communication between model developers and policymakers.
The forum invites renowned experts and scholars to form an academic committee to oversee and coordinate various research efforts in energy modeling. Professor He Jiankun, the Deputy Director of the National Expert Committee on Climate Change and former Executive Vice President of Tsinghua University, serves as the Chairman of the Academic Committee.
